First Things First is a program for assisting families in Tehama County
in obtaining health care insurance for children. Staff will
assist families in filling out their applications for either Medi-Cal or
Healthy Families.
The process for enrolling children in Medi-Cal, the no- or low-cost
government health coverage, has been slightly changed but the benefits
remain the same.
The Healthy Families Program provides health, dental, and vision insurance
to eligible children who do not have insurance today and are
not eligible for no-cost Medi-Cal. It helps parents get affordable
and comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage for
their children. A child may be a citizen, national, or qualified
alien. A parent's immigration status is not considered.
-
If you are a parent or legal guardian, you may apply for insurance for
your eligible child.
-
If you are a stepparent, foster parent, or caretaker relative who lives
with a child, you may apply for insurance for your eligible child.
-
If you are an 18 years old, you may be eligible to apply for your own insurance.
