Mission Statement:
Child Care Referral and Education provides a variety of resources to the community in a courteous, professional and confidential manner to assist and support young children and families in achieving their potential.
We achieve the mission by:

Child Care Referral & Education serves Tehama County
- Funded through the State Department of Education, Child Development Division
- Sponsored by Shasta County Office of Education
Services offered by Child Care Referral & Education:
- The main purpose of Child Care Referral & Education is to provide referrals, free of charge to the licensed child care providers in Tehama County, to those families needing child care.
- Lending Library located at Child Care Referral & Education is a free service for those involved with children.
- Adult-level books on children and child care
- Children's books
- Toys for children birth to 8 years
- Early childhood curriculum resources
- Videos on a variety of early childhood topics
- Child Care Food Program (CCFP): Tehama County licensed family child care providers are eligible to enroll in the CCFP and receive food cost reimbursement for meals served to the children in their care.
- Certificate Child Care Programs: The Alternative Payment Program (AP) and Child Development Block Grant (CDBG) AP are made possible through funds made available by the State Department of Education and are designed to provide full or partial payment for child care for an eligible family.
- A resource file is maintained for referrals to other family-related services.
- Technical assistance is available to individuals and groups interested in expanding child care services.
- A quarterly and monthly newsletter is published and will be sent to individuals requesting that their name be added to our mailing list.
- Ongoing documentation of requests for services is compiled in order to assess child care needs of the community.
- Workshops are held for parents and child care providers.
- Advocacy of legislation at the State and Federal levels that affects children and their families.
